People searching for ToneDen alternatives are usually looking for one of four things: the smart link (fanlink.to), the social-action gate, the Facebook ad campaigns that drove streams, or the pre-save. ToneDen is gone, and the honest answer depends on which of those four was actually doing the work for you — so this page is organised by job, not by feature count. If you only ever used the link part and never logged in again, you have the simplest move of anyone here.

First: what actually happened to ToneDen

Short version: ToneDen was acquired by Eventbrite in November 2020, folded into what became Eventbrite Boost, and the standalone product was never really developed again. Its signature links lived on the fanlink.to domain, and in March 2024 the domain provider cut ties — Eventbrite emailed users that ToneDen could no longer support links pointing at ".to" domains, and every FanLink stopped resolving. Music Ally and Hypebot covered the warning on 14 March 2024; PUSH.fm wrote the same week that all ToneDen Smart Links were broken and would need recreating. Community threads through February and March 2024 ("Is ToneDen broken / dead?", "Toneden died, other free alternatives?") tracked the same arc: Meta API changes had broken its Growth ad campaigns earlier, then the links went dark.

As of August 2026 the product is unreachable: toneden.io serves a shell page with no signup or dashboard, and fanlink.to now redirects to an unrelated page. There is nothing to migrate to — only from. What you can salvage is your fan emails (if you exported them), your ad data, and the campaigns themselves as a template for rebuilding.

The alternatives at a glance

ToolPick it whenCost
PlayloudrThe release is one campaign — smart link, pre-save, gate, fan list, calendar — instead of five toolsFree plan; Artist tier (regional prices)
Feature.fmYou want the closest ToneDen shape: many link types, retargeting pixels, pre-save breadthFree; $8–$39/mo
PUSH.fmYou want unlimited links, pre-saves and reward gates for as close to nothing as possibleFree; $5/mo premium
HypedditDownload/social gates and its scene charts are your engine, and you want AI-built ad campaignsFree Rookie tier; $10–$100/mo
BackstagedYou want gates on a newer superfan platform with playlist placements on the sidePlacement submissions free; other pricing not itemised on the site
Odesli (song.link)You only ever used the link part and want it instantly, forever freeFree

Prices as advertised on each company's own site, last checked August 2026. Feature.fm prices are USD as shown on feature.fm; Playloudr shows stable GBP, USD, and EUR prices on its pricing page. Backstaged publishes no plan pricing on its site, so none is listed here.

The fanlink was a link that knew what it was pointing at and where the fan was opening it — that is a solved problem, and every serious alternative does the deep-link routing that matters. Where they differ is what happens in the in-app browsers on Instagram and TikTok, which is where most of your clicks actually come from: plain links and most redirectors open a login wall in the in-app browser. Playloudr smart links route those taps into the native Spotify app instead, and report the DSP that was chosen. Feature.fm and PUSH.fm also deep-link properly and are cheaper at the low end. If you want the link-by-link comparison, that page exists.

If what you used was the gate

ToneDen gates traded a follow or repost for a download, and after the March 2024 outage most of that traffic needed a new home. Be precise about which gate behaviour you want, because the tools split hard.

Social-action gates: PUSH.fm reward links cover this free. Hypeddit remains the reference for download gates with social steps — though as we note on the Hypeddit alternatives page, its SoundCloud step became voluntary in 2026 after SoundCloud restricted API access, and enforced social gating is thinner everywhere than it was in ToneDen's heyday. Backstaged is a newer platform doing gated links plus playlist placements; worth a look if you want the gate bundled with a superfan/community angle, but it is small and young by comparison.

Email-for-reward gates: this is where Playloudr promo gates compete directly — a protected download (bonus track, stems, ZIP) in exchange for a verified email, with every signup landing on a per-fan record you keep and can export. If your ToneDen gates were quietly building a mailing list rather than follower counts, that is the mechanic to double down on: why email beats follows and what to gate.

If what you used was the Facebook ads

This is the piece of ToneDen people actually lost, and the honest framing matters. ToneDen's "Growth" campaigns were an ad manager that built Meta campaigns pointing at your fanlink — and in early 2024 Meta deprecated the campaign objective type those campaigns relied on, which is what community threads were reporting before the links even broke. No alternative reproduces that exact one-button flow, because Meta stopped supporting it.

What exists today: Hypeddit builds AI-assisted Meta ad campaigns on its Pro tier ($20/mo) with a ready-to-launch template angle. Feature.fm keeps the retargeting-pixel machinery ToneDen users relied on (one pixel on its free plan, more as you pay). And Playloudr takes the durable route: Meta ads that point at a landing page you control, with click measurement that survives the ad platforms refusing to report your Spotify results — the setup is explained in how to track Spotify clicks from Facebook ads. If you were getting 0.2¢ clicks from ToneDen, expect to pay real money now; the era of subsidised ad infrastructure for musicians ended with the tools that bundled it.

If what you used was the pre-save

The easiest migration on this page. Pre-saves are a commodity now: Playloudr, Feature.fm, PUSH.fm and Hypeddit all run them, and all four convert a pre-save campaign into a working link on release day. Playloudr's version attaches the pre-save to the same campaign record as your smart link, gate and social plan, which matters more than the pre-save itself the third time you run one. If you were paying ToneDen for pre-saves alone, PUSH.fm's free plan is the honest recommendation.

The honest matrix

PUSH.fm if you want the closest free toolkit to ToneDen (links, pre-saves, reward gates) and price is the whole question. Hypeddit if gates plus scene charts plus AI-built ad campaigns is your engine. Feature.fm if link-type breadth and retargeting pixels matter more than anything else. Backstaged if you want gates bundled with a superfan/community product and can tolerate a small platform. Playloudr if the release is the unit of work and you want the fan list to survive whichever tool is trendy in three years. And Odesli if you genuinely only ever needed a link.

One setup note: there is no reason to stay loyal to a single tool because ToneDen was free. Its links are dead; every alternative here has a free tier that costs you nothing to A/B against your old campaign structure.
